Friday : My Sister's Recipe

A perfect dish for the long weekend that brings closure to a summer full of adventure, yet welcomes the sweet and comfortable feeling of fall to our door steeps. This recipe comes from the kitchen of my sister, Emily. We typically spend the Labor Day weekend celebrating our birthdays and the marriage anniversary of our grandparents. With distance, busy work schedules, and having not one, but TWO(!) little ones in school this year we will not be spending Labor Day together. This is the next best thing I could come up with to fill the void.

Happy Birthday, Emily.

Happy Anniversary, Grandma (we miss you lots Grandpa GG).

Blueberry & Peach Cobbler

3 cups fresh peaches & blueberries
1 plus 1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 cup self-rising flour.

Preheat the over to 350. Pour the peaches & blueberries into a 2-quart baking dish and sprinkle 1/2 cup of sugar over the fruit. In another bowl, combine the melted butter, the remaining cup of sugar, and the flour until it forms a pastry. Pour this over the fruit and bake for 45 minutes.

Have a safe & happy Labor Day weekend.

xoxo,

kg
